There's a chance I may make it to Old Fed this afternoon, Thurs. Friday, I hope to go somewhere.

I hope to sail tomorrow - watching the forecast for time & launch location at Lanier.

Been up by the lake all day. Breezy but not particularly windy - especially with a huge line of thunderstorms just to the north and nudging closer.
I love my 9.5 but not enough to get zapped by 1 gazillion (sorry to use a technical term) volts.
Maybe tomorrow.

Gene said it was raining hard today at Old Federal while it dodged Sandy Springs again today. I'm thinking that the river is 5 minutes away, and a lot less driving if I'm going to get rained on.

Radar already looks brutal. If someone had the day and wanted to take the punt, the southside likes look intriguing - West Point or Juliette. They may be far enough from the train of storms along N. GA.
Oh, we went. David rigged 14 kite and tried but failed to launch. Gene carried his kite out to set up. I came by jet ski. Then came the clouds, then the rain, then the rain never stopped. Everyone packed up and I found a hole in the sky an did 60 mph all the way home.
Now if that isn't a nice Goldie Locks story, then I've never heard one.

I just had a realization upon getting up this morning that probably even if there is wind and dry skies, today is going to be crowded at the lake, river, wherever since today seems to be the day everyone is taking off for the 4th. No parking. Our best hope is that the early morning storms discourage people and they all stay at home and mope and have a lousy day. I know - selfish. I don't care.....You can't really get anywhere in wind sports if you can't take advantage of weather everyone else hates.

My experience is that when the weather does this the people stay away or delay. It happens every time it rains even on holidays.

I think I am going to head out to Galts or Old 41 around 1:30 or 2. Weather is too iffy to make the 1.25 hr trek to Lanier.
Heading there now.

Up in Gainesville doing STHTGD (shite that had to get done) while watching the trees move all afternoon. Was tempted to stick around but radar suggested more rain was on the way and Gilmer was reporting 16-27 and I only had a 9.5 in the car. STHTGD had worn me out and clinging to a 9.5 didn't generate the appropriate enthusiasm. Was non-rainy most of the afternoon after getting 2 inches dumped overnight.
Short version: First really windy day in six weeks and I'm shoveling wood chips at the lake while my small gear is at home.
With thunder and lots of rain in Decatur I misjudged the day. Radar made it look like Gainesville would get soaked. Tomorrow looks tempting.

Old Fed in the afternoon, no rain, warm and lots of wind (in July?) Roger and David D were on 14 meter kites, wind came up, David D rigged down to a 12 and I went out on an 11, Roger stayed on his 14 (very impressive.) Wind was SW, 10-30, kind of scarey in the gusts.
Ed and David W windsurfed, started around 7.0+? and rigged down to 6.5 - ?
The park was not crowded, tomorrow, I dont know? Depending on wind and rain, I might try it early tomorrow (4th,) maybe mid morning?

Looks like the early morning storms where a real blessing for all of us who really matter. Scared all the civilians away from the lakes and rivers. JUST AS I HOPED IT WOULD.......(Maniacal laugh.)

Got out at ~7p on 6.5/slalom board and planed some but not enough, so went big with 9.5/Equipe and had a swell time with the lake almost entirely to myself. Still light enough at 9p for packing it up. Me gusta!
I do see the resemblance there. We are both bald, though my skin is plastic and his is......
